Please keep in mind that different paths have
different lore and depth to each Sabbat. This is
my interpretation of the Wheel
of the Year. I am posting it for
information only. This page will
probably not change much over time. I hope
this is a helpful tool for all.

October 31 Samhain
(pronounced
SAW-wain) is the witches "new year". A
time for endings and new beginings.
The veil between the living world and
the spirit world is at its thinest in
this time. Celebrations span from
Halloween fun to rites of passage for
those who have passed in the year. This
is a great time for reunion/comunion
with with spirits of all types. It is a
time of death for the Great horned god,
but also a return to the womb. For, in
the fulness of time he will be reborn.
|
December 21 This is the birth
of the son/sun. The day when the Great
horned god is re-born to the goddess.
And the day that marks the comming of
the warmer weather. Many of the common
christmas traditions were copied from
pagan traditions. The Yule tree is the
most common. The lights of the tree
were originally candles to invite the
quick return and growth of the sun/son.
With intent to bring the warmer
weather.

Febuary 1 Known in some
traditions as Brigid. This is a
celebration of the mother goddess as
well as a celebration of the growing and
strengthening young god. It is now
becoming apparent that he is growing
stronger every day. This will in turn bring on the Spring and Summer.
|
March 21-23 Ostara is the time
of year we celebrate fertility and new
life. Typically at the spring equinox.
This is also a time to honor the balance of light and dark, or male and female influance in life.
|
May 1 May Day. This is the
day we recognize the union of the God
and Goddess. In many celebrations a
Maypole is braided with ribbons of all
colors to represent their union. Most
celabrations for this day are
very festive.
|
June 21 Also known as Midsummer. This is the summer solstice. This is the time of year we celebrate the prime of life. The peeking of the power of the God. And the greatness of the bounty he provides.
|
August 1 First harvest. We
celebrate the bounty of the early
harvest. This is a time to look at the
bounty of your own life and celebrate
it.
|
